Meet Makié: Everyday Pieces with a Personal Touch

A favorite piece of clothing often reveals its character up close: an unexpected button, a beautiful fabric, or a detail made by hand. That attention to detail runs through Makié, the New York label founded by designer Makie Yahagi. At Lawrence Covell, our selection brings together soft cashmere, delicate embroidery, and an easy wool skirt for fall.

Cashmere with a story to tell

The pieces in our Makié collection feature hand embroidery by Italian textile artist Antonia Rossi. The cashmere cardigan has a familiar crewneck shape, with colorful details appearing along the neckline, button placket, sleeves, and hem. Wear it with jeans during the day or button it up over a skirt.

The back button cashmere sweater is just as easy to wear. Its simple silhouette lets the embroidery come into focus, while a single button at the back of the neck adds a subtle finishing touch. Each sweater is embroidered individually, so the colors and placement vary from piece to piece.

For an extra layer, the hand embroidered cashmere scarf pairs generous proportions with fringe on all four sides. Rossi’s embroidery appears at the corners, adding small points of color to the soft cashmere.

The piece that pulls it together

The Andrea Wool Pleated Skirt gives those embroidered knits a clean, versatile partner. Its dark color and full shape balance the texture of the cardigan or sweater. Add boots for a fall outfit that feels considered without feeling too dressed up.

What we love about this Makié edit is how naturally the pieces fit into a wardrobe. The shapes are easy to return to, and the hand finished details give you something new to notice each time you wear them.
